Welcome to the Department of Anesthesiology
OP Anestesiology
The departments specialist team looks after patients who have undergone surgery, diagnosis or investigative surgery under anesthetic at the UKE. Currently this amounts to more than 70,000 patients a year. We start caring for you as an outpatient before the operation, as well as during pre-op consultation and preparation when everything is fully discussed with you and all the necessary pre-examinations take place. We talk to you, the patient, to determine which is the most suitable and safest form of anesthesia for you. We offer every form of general and local anesthesia and have highly specialized teams of doctors and nursing staff for every patient group (newborns, children, adults, seniors), as well as for every operation. An anesthetist dedicated solely to you will be on hand throughout your procedure, which will take place in one of 60 theaters or surgery rooms at the UKE. Patients are also monitored and receive medical care after their operation in our recovery rooms, or in our 24/7 observation area in the PACU24 block.
Our services also include optimal pain therapy as this may be an issue following surgery. We have a 24/7 acute pain service on hand to help patients
