Center for Health Care Reseach and Public Health

The two scientific disciplines of health care research and public health research are located at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) at the Center for Health Care Research and Public Health (CHCR & PH). The CHCR & PH aims to establish and promote stable and internationally competitive structures at the UKE and the University of Hamburg. Founded in 2006, it has grown steadily and is the central contact point for health services research and public health projects in the Hamburg metropolitan region.

The CHCR & PH has an interdisciplinary and cross-faculty structure. This is reflected in the member institutions, the projects carried out and the high ranking of the publications.
One focus of the CHCR & PH is regional health services research. For this purpose, an innovative, stable network with important institutions and actors of the Hamburg health care landscape has been built up over the last 10 years.

  • Health Care Research

Health services research is an interdisciplinary field of research that, starting from the patient and population perspective and against the background of complex contextual conditions, examines the structures and processes of health care provision, describes the outcome at the level of everyday care and evaluates complex interventions to improve care.
