Liver tumors & metastases consultation hour
This consultation hour is designed for patients with tumors of the hepatobiliary system. The spectrum contains especially treatments of patients with:
- Liver metastases, deciding on their resection and/or a pre-surgery chemotherapy
- Colon carcinoma with synchronic or metachronic liver metastases with liver tumors of unknown dignity or incidental tumors
- Hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) or cholangiocarcinoma (biliary tract cancer)
- Malignant tumors of the extrahepatic bile duct systems, including tumors of the intra-pancreatic bile duct and the major duodenal papilla (opening of the pancreatic duct into the duodenum)
- Complex hepatobiliary diseases as well as injuries of the biliary tract system
- Benign liver tumors (e.g. adenoma, focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH)), discussing surgery
For treatment planning, the patient's findings are presented and the final treatment recommendation is made as part of the interdisciplinary liver board. Further information can also be found on the pages of the General, Visceral and Thoracic Surgery Department and the University Liver Center.
