Tasks and Focus

The laboratory spectrum of the institute covers the entire diagnostic range of microorganisms extracted from human tissue, including microscopic, cultural and serological methods, mass spectrometry and molecular biology techniques, bacterial resistance identification and sequencing of detected pathogens. One primary focus of the institute is the clinical and microbiological support of external clients by telephone and the participation in doctor’s ward rounds at regular intervals. The clinical hygiene laboratory provides all clinical hygiene examinations for the university hospital as well as external customers.
