Welcome to the Department of Neurosurgery
Neurosurgery is a medical specialty that deals with injuries, defects and tumors of the brain, cranial bones, spinal cord and spine, as well as degenerative spinal herniation, stenosis of the spinal canal and peripheral nerve disorders. Currently we look after 7500 outpatients and carry out approximately 3500 operations on the head and spine of adults and children. Minimally invasive procedures and an array of the latest techniques, such as intraoperative imaging with computer tomography, MRT-aided neuronavigation, ultrasound and fluorescent cancer cell marking, all facilitate safer, more effective treatment. Deep brain stimulation proves valuable in treating Parkinson’s disease, in brain surgery, operations on the spinal cord, on skull base tumors, brain nerves or the brain stem, and in complex vascular conditions. With our many years of daily experience in this field, armed with modern medical technology, we offer our patients a reassuring wealth of expertise.
