Consultation Session for Neuro / CNS Tumor Patients
Head: Prof. Dr. med. Judith Dierlamm
In Germany, more than 8,000 people are diagnosed with a primary brain tumor every year. Furthermore, over 25% of all cancer patients develop brain metastases in the course of their disease, so-called secondary brain tumors. The most common malignant brain tumor in adults, the malignant glioma, still remains a therapeutic challenge.
An optimal interdisciplinary cooperation of the Departments of Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology, Radiotherapy, and Oncology in the diagnostics and treatment of brain tumor patients is necessary in order to offer the patient the best treatment options possible.
In our brain tumor consultation session, patients with brain tumors are treated with medication. In addition, patients here can seek medical advice and get a second opinion. The treatment plans are discussed in an interdisciplinary tumor board at the beginning and during the course of treatment.
