Welcome to the Institute of Computational Neuroscience

The Institute of Computational Neuroscience (ICNS) is part of the Center of Experimental Medicine of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf.

Our main research interest is the understanding of fundamental organizational principles of brain connectivity and brain function by means of computational analysis and modeling and the translation of our findings into clinical and technical applications. Combining integrative approaches of network neuroscience and computational neuroscience with expertise in advanced biomedical signal processing, our interdisciplinary research team and its projects link the fields of neuroscience and biomedicine with physics, computer science and mathematics.
